The Smartknob project really nice and we all love it. But actually it is difficult for Makers to DIY it, after about half an year’s work, we made this MaTouch version, for Makers/Learners quick use this nice item. 

Compares to Smartknob original(by @scottbez1), to make this item producible, MaTouch version has the following features:

1. Sourcing proper BLDC motor, which is somewhat difficult.

2. Updated mechanic design, 3D printing case. This design is original from a project superdial, and Makerfabs updated it to make it better feeling and cost-effective;

3. 1.28” LCD display with Touch panel;

4. Updated PCBA schematic, such as battery charger/counter electromotive force protection;

TheMaTouch Smartknob assembled features:

• 240x240 round LCD ("GC9A01") with Touch, expand the usage possibility much;
  
• BLDC gimbal motor, with a hollow shaft for mechanically & electrically connecting the LCD
• Powered by ESP32-S3-WROOM-1U-N16R8,16M flash, 8M PSRAM
• USB Type-C with USB native
• Internal battery for power 
• All assembled, the whole assembly is difficult as there multiple wires crossing the internal shaft, and you can directly use it now. 
• Hardware& firmware& Mechanic design all open source

 SmartKnob is an open-source input device with software-configurable endstops and virtual detents.A brushless gimbal motor is paired with a magnetic encoder to provide closed-loop torque feedback control, making it possible to dynamically create and adjust the feel of detents and endstops.

Very Note that this is still an open project mainly for Makers DIY/Prototyping, but not a commercial product for end-users, be ensure you get this before your order:

• Makerfabs only provide the hardware and usage demo(as in the video), all the files open. But Makerfabs do not ensure the firmware bugs and do not help on field application/personal requests. 
  
• The Mechanic is 3D printed, sometimes there imperfections in production;
• All items are strictly tested before shipping, if you will take the case off to modify the hardware, be sure you can make them back to default state.
